Housing Starts Rise in January 2010
Nationwide housing production hit its strongest pace in the last six months this January, posting a 2.8% gain to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 591,000 units, according to figures recently released by the U.S. Commerce Department.
“Builders are starting to see the positive impacts of home buyer tax credits and other favorable buying conditions in terms of consumer demand, and are cautiously increasing production to meet that demand,” said National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Chairman Bob Jones, a home builder from Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
We gathered the most common questions about decorating with rugs, and then sat down with Lowe’s Vice President of Trend, Design & Brand Melissa Birdsong to find solutions that will work for your space.
Q. Is it OK to use more than one rug in a space? A. Absolutely! Larger rooms and open floor plans can present a challenge, but pairing patterned rugs with solids or bordered rugs allows you to create defined areas for sitting or dining within a space. Keep one element, such as color, as a common factor, and think of traffic flow when you’re planning placement.
